2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden has passed away in Italy yesterday evening. The 35 year old American was involved in a collision with a car while cycling on the Riviera di Rimini on 17th May. Hayden was rushed to the Rimini hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries five days after the accident.
Hayden’s racing career began in the early 2000s, where he won the Daytona 200 annual race on a Honda Superbike in 2002. His MotoGP career was between 2003 – 2015, and returned to racing in 2016 for the Superbike World Championship.
Hayden was engaged to Jackie Marin a year ago.
