BMW’s Board of Management has decided to confirm the revival of the 8 Series badge by announcing a new 8 Series Coupe concept. The ‘design study’ which BMW likes to call it, will be unveiled at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, on May 26, 2017.
The concept that will be presented in Italy on May 26th is said to be the evolution of the Gran Lusso Coupe concept unveiled at the 2013 edition of Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. While the Gran Lusso was designed by Pininfarina, we don’t know yet if they are working on the 8 Series Coupe too.
Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board said, “The BMW 8 Series Coupe will build on our tradition of luxurious sports coupes and add a genuine dream car to our line-up, a slice of pure automotive fascination.” “The 8 Series Coupe will underpin our claim to leadership in the luxury segment. I can tell you today that this will be a true luxury sports coupe.”
The production 8 Series Coupe is slated for 2018.
