Almost a year ago, we saw the Brazil-spec Renault Kwid being tested around São Paulo and learnt few details. Importantly, we learnt that the Brazil Kwid weighs around 140 kg more than the Indian version owing to the increased structural rigidity to meet local safety standards. According to few reports, the Brazil-spec Kwid gets a total of 4 airbags and ABS + EBD as well.
Renault Brazil is gearing up for the local launch and the Kwid microsite has gone live. The Brazil-spec Kwid takes design cues and color themes from the Kwid Outsider concept unveiled at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show.
Other than the enhanced safety, what differentiates the Brazil Kwid from the Indian Kwid are few more features. These include electric ORVMs, new instrument cluster and rear wiper + defogger. The Brazil Kwid’s instrument cluster will have a tachometer and a multi information display (MID). Other obvious changes include a new alloy wheel design. However, similar to the Kwid here and everywhere else, the power windows are limited only to the front section of the car.
Reportedly, the Brazil Kwid will have a 1.0 litre 3-cylinder flex fuel engine (gasoline and ethanol), paired to a 5-Speed manual transmission. Expected to be launched/unveiled on May 15.
