Pune-based Force Motors has launched the updated Gurkha EOV “Extreme Off-road Vehicle”, at Rs 8.38 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The new Gurkha is available in 3-door Xplorer and 5-door Xpedition variants.
While the Xplorer can be had either with a soft-top or hard-top, the Xpedition comes with a hard-top. Powering the Gurkha is a 2.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine derived from Mercedes-Benz OM616, with an output of 85 hp at 3,200 rpm and 230 Nm of torque between 1,400-2,400 rpm. Transmission is taken care of by a 5-speed manual, with a high-low 4WD transfer case. The Xplorer features a differential lock on the front and rear axles. Both models are BS-IV compliant.
Interiors feature a manual AC and a 4 spoke steering wheel. The Xpedition has a seating capacity for 8 people including the driver. Force Motors says that the snorkel intake gives the Gurkha a wading depth of 550 mm. Approach and departure angles are at 39 and 27 degrees, respectively. The Gurkha rides on 16-inch wheels shod with 245/70 all-terrain tyres.
