Mercedes-Benz India has launched a long-wheelbase version of the 5th generation E-Class, with prices starting at Rs 56.15 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai. The diesel variant is priced at Rs 69.47 lakh ex-Mumbai.
India is the only country to get an RHD long-wheelbase version, because, the E-Class has accounted for over 34% of Mercedes’ sales in the country, making it the most important car for the manufacturer here. The car measures over 5 meters (5,063 mm) in length with a wheelbase of 3,079 mm. Assembled at Pune facility, the E-Class is available only in the LWB version in India.
The E 200 is powered by a 2.0-litre (1,991 cc) 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing 184 hp at 5,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque between 1,200 – 4,000 rpm. A 0 – 100 km/h acceleration is rated at 8.5 seconds, and top speed is 240 km/h. The E 350 d packs a 3.0-litre (2,987) V6 diesel engine, producing 258 hp at 3,400 rpm and 620 Nm of torque between 1,600 – 2,400 rpm. The diesel is claimed to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, and maxes out at 250 km/h. Both engines are paired with a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
Standard equipment include LED headlamps, LED taillamps, Artico leather upholstery, steering mounted touchpad, 64-colour Ambient Lighting, panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch COMAND display, 13-speaker Burmester surround sound, 3-zone climate control, Air Body Control air suspension, reclining rear seats, electric sunblinds for rear window, Parking Pilot with Parktronic, 360-degree camera, Attention Assist, 7 airbags, Pre-Safe, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Acceleration Skid Control (ASR), ABS, Brake Assist and some more.
While the E 200 rides on a 5-spoke 17-inch tremolite grey light-alloy wheels, the E 350 d rides on a 10-spoke 17-inch himlayas grey light-alloy wheels.
