Going forward, it’s gonna be more and more wussy, boring EVs, so I guess we’re just gonna have to get used to it. The latest one to join that list is the Skoda Elroq, a C-segment compact crossover for Europe, with prices starting at CZK 799,000 in the Czech Republic and GBP 31,500 in the UK.

The Elroq sports a contemporary design language with a dual-lamp setup at the front and a rather boring rear fascia. There are no light bars here. Apparently, the Elroq is the first model to feature Skoda’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language. Personally, I think the design looks cliché, but it’s not too bland either—at least from the front-three-quarter angles. The range-topping Sportline trim comes with matrix LED headlights, 20-inch Asterion black alloy wheels, and gloss black roof rails, mirror caps and badges.
The Elroq is built on VW Group’s MEB platform. Compared with the Enyaq, the difference in size is mostly the length. The Elroq measures 4,488 mm long (-160 mm), 1,884 mm wide (+7 mm) and 1,654 mm tall (+36 mm). The wheelbase of 2,765 mm is identical to that of the Enyaq.
Let’s get the numbers out of the way then, shall we? Initially, only RWD models will be available, but I’m told that there are plans for dual-motor AWD variants. The Elroq 50 offers 125 kW (170 metric hp) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft), good for a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 9.0 seconds and a top speed of 160 km/h (99 mph). A 55 kWh (52 kWh net) battery pack is claimed to offer a WLTP range of anywhere between 357 and 375 km (222-233 mi). The battery pack can be DC fast-charged with up to 145 kW. Kerb weight is 1,874-2,014 kg (4,131-4,440 lbs).
As for the Elroq 85, well, depending on the conditions, you get up to 210 kW (285.5 metric hp) of max power. Max torque is up to 545 Nm (402 lb-ft). The official 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time is 6.6 seconds, while the top speed is 180 km/h (112 mph). An 82 kWh (77 kWh net) pack is claimed to offer a WLTP range of anywhere between 540 and 580 km (335.5-360 mi). This battery pack can be DC fast-charged with up to 175 kW. Kerb weight is 2,044-2,181 kg (4,506-4,808 lbs).
The interior design looks relatively stunning compared with the exterior design. The dashboard houses a large 13-inch touchscreen. You also get a Virtual Cockpit and an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display. The Sportline trim comes with front sports seats upholstered in Suedia artificial leather.
