Moto Guzzi has revealed the new V85 range with styling, tech and power upgrades. The range includes V85 Strada (€12,499), V85 TT (€13,499) and V85 TT Travel (€14,999).
The first one is, of course, the V85 Strada. While the idea of this one is lightness, practicality and simplicity by doing away with grab handles, skid plate and handguards, these are available as accessories. The features list also includes new multi-spoke aluminium alloy wheels—wrapped with road-treaded tyres. The V85 Strada weighs 4 kg (8.8 lbs) less than the V85 TT. The motorcycle is available in Nero Isola and Grigio Brera color options.
Which then brings us to the V85 TT, the all-terrain version. It has a retro flair going on from the 1980s. The frame is red painted, while the bodywork features a two-tone Rosso Fuji and Grigio Tambora livery. Features list includes spoked wheels wrapped with sculpted tyres (150/70-17 and 110/80-19 front & rear, respectively); these tyres are claimed to satisfy off-road enthusiasts. In addition, the engine is shielded by an aluminium skid plate and the hand grips feature improved, more protective hand guards. The red-painted rear shock absorber spring can be adjusted for preload via a knob.
And finally, we’ve the V85 TT, of course. As the name suggests, it is meant for touring, and therefore, it features a new aerodynamic windshield with 22% more surface area than others; it is also manually height adjustable up to 5 positions. In addition, new side deflectors further enhance protection, making it ideal for motorway cruising and cold-weather riding. As a result, air pressure on the rider’s helmet is reduced by an extra 50% compared with the V85 TT, the company said. A large 23-litre fuel tank is claimed to offer a range of over 400 km (248+ mi).
The equipment list includes Urban Series sidecases, a 37-litre right one and a 27.5-litre left one; these can be unlocked using the same key. Also standard on the V85 TT Travel are heated grips and a rider’s seat whose temperature can be adjusted via controls on the left switch cube. Rounding off the equipment list is the Moto Guzzi MIA multimedia platform with smartphone connectivity. The motorcycle is available in an exclusive Bronzo Deserto color.
A 5-inch TFT display, a six-axis inertial platform (optional on the V85 Strada), Cornering ABS, Cornering Traction Control, 320 mm front discs gripped by Brembo calipers, riding modes (Road, Sport and Rain; Off-Rode mode for TT models), and Cruise Control are some of the other highlights of the V85 range.
The motorcycles are powered by an 853 cc air-cooled, 90° transverse V-twin engine, developing 59 kW (80 metric hp) at 7,750 rpm and 83 Nm (61 lb-ft) of torque at 5,100 rpm. Thanks to the adoption of variable valve timing—in addition to other measures, the power and torque are up by 4 metric hp and 3 Nm, respectively, over the previous gen models.
