Kia has taken the wraps off the K4 compact sedan, expected to go on sale in the U.S. market in the second half of 2024. This is not the new generation of the China-spec K4 but is a replacement for the K3/Forte/Cerato. It’ll be available in five trims: LX, LXS, EX, GT-Line and GT-Line Turbo.
The 2025 K4 adopts the brand’s “Opposites United” design language. The photos here showcase the GT-Line, of course, sporting gloss black accents, a satin chrome beltline, 18-inch alloy wheels, and gloss black mirror caps, window trim, and side sills. The GT-Line Turbo also includes small cube LED projector headlights and LED fog lights.
With an overall length of 185.4-inches (4,709 mm) and width of 72.8-inches (1,849 mm), the K4 is the widest and has the largest footprint in the compact segment, the company said. Cargo capacity is claimed to be 14.6 cubic feet (413 litres).
The K4 interior is available in either Medium Gray (LX/LXS/EX) or Slate Green (EX), and the GT-Line models add Onyx and Off-White. Heated front seats are standard on K4 GT-Line and above, and ventilated seats as well as driver’s seat memory function are optional. A three-spoke steering wheel is exclusive to K4 GT-Line models.
Other key highlights include a widescreen panel (a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a 5-inch climate display and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen), and wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity. Options list includes Digital Key 2.0 with Ultra Wideband, Harman Kardon premium audio system, and a large sunroof.
Standard ADAS suite includes Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go. Forward Collision Avoidance 1.5 is an optional extra, which is designed to help detect and prevent collisions from occurring in certain circumstances, and detect vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists in front of the vehicle while driving, as well as oncoming vehicles while turning left at an intersection. Forward Collision Avoidance 2 is optional on GT-Line Turbo, which is engineered to detect crossing vehicles while crossing through an intersection. FCA-2 is also designed to help provide a degree of braking and/or steering input to help prevent certain collisions or lessen the effects if the system detects oncoming vehicles while passing other vehicles. In addition to standard Blind Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, GT-Line is available with Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot View Monitor. The Surround-View Monitor is also an optional extra.
Moving on to the juicy bits of the story, the new K4 is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that offers 110 kW (147 bhp/150 metric hp) and 179 Nm (132 lb-ft), paired with a CVT. There’ll also be a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine (GT-Line Turbo) with 142 kW (190 bhp/193 metric hp) and 264 Nm (195 lb-ft), paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Exclusive to the K4 GT-Line and GT-Line Turbo models is a multi-link rear suspension that adds lateral stiffness and compliance, for a sportier driving experience.
