Nissan has taken the wraps off the second-gen Kicks, expected to go on sale in the U.S. market in Summer 2024. Nissan is yet to disclose the price list, but your local dealer might have some idea. But yea, if you’re planning to attend the 2024 New York International Auto Show, you can check out the 2025 Kicks in-person.
So, where should we begin then? I guess we should begin with the styling department, because you know, if the people like the way a vehicle looks, more than half the battle is won, right? You don’t believe me? Well, ask Kia India. But anyway, the 2025 Kicks looks very attractive, indeed. I would say the styling is a complete departure from the predecessor; except for the rear window lines and the C-pillar design, I don’t really see a lineage here, but I guess it’s not necessary to see a lineage. I do appreciate that the grille is dark/black as opposed to gaudy chrome.
For the U.S. market, the new Kicks will be offered in S, SV and SR trims, plus two optional Premium packages. The photos here showcase the range-topping SR trim; more specifically, the SR AWD. That’s right, AWD options will also be available for the U.S. market. For those interested in knowing the dimensions, the 2025 Kicks measures 171.9-inches (4,366 mm) long, 70.9-inches (1801 mm) wide and 64-inches (1,626 mm) tall, with a wheelbase of 104.9-inches (2,664 mm). The FWD variant’s wheelbase is slightly smaller at 104.6-inches (2,657 mm). The example here is riding on optional 19-inch aerodynamically optimized wheels.
Inside, key highlights depending on the trim include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, a 6-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat, Nissan’s Zero Gravity seat design for both rows, USB Type-C ports, a wireless smartphone charging pad, auto AC, and a 6-speaker audio system. But if you’d like to spend more, the options list for the SR trim includes a 10-speaker Bose audio system with headrest-integrated speakers.
ADAS such as Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, High Beam Assist, and Predictive Forward Collision Warning are standard across the range. The SR trim gets a few more, including the ProPILOT Assist (combines steering assistance with Intelligent Cruise Control to help drivers stay centered within their lane).
Powering the 2025 Kicks is a 2.0L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine (MR20DD) that offers 105 kW (141 bhp/143 metric hp) at 6,000 rpm and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft) of torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine is coupled with a CVT that drives the front wheels as standard. AWD option will also be available.
