Kia has given the 4th gen Carnival a thorough facelift; the refreshed MPV is now on sale in Korea, with prices starting at KRW 34,700,000. For the U.S. market, the Carnival facelift is expected to go on sale in summer 2024 as a 2025 model.
The styling revisions can be found on the front and rear fascias; there are redesigned headlights, grille, taillights, and of course, bumpers. The shape of the light signatures is in line with the recent Kia models, but they closely match with those of the EV5 electric SUV. The side profile remains mostly unchanged, albeit with new wheel designs ranging from 17- to 19-inches. The photos here show the Carnival Dark Edition, featuring darkened exterior elements such as the roof rails, skid plates, C-pillar garnish, side door garnish, tailgate garnish, exterior side mirror covers, front grille and wheels.
Inside, there’s a brand new dashboard, of course, featuring a curved panel that houses a 12.3-inch cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. However, do note that as standard, the panel houses a 4.2-inch MID and a 12-inch touchscreen. A full-color head-up display is also an optional extra. Other key highlights include a total of 7 USB-C ports, 2 power outlets, 2 115-volt inverters, and voice commands activated via “Hey Kia!”. The seats you see in the second-row here are part of the optional VIP Lounge Seat package. The Rear Entertainment System with dual 14.6-inch displays can also be found in the options list. Digital Key 2.0 or an NFC-enabled smart card is also available.
The ADAS suite includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist as standard. Options now include Junction Crossing (FCA-JC), Lange-change Oncoming (FCA-LO), Lange-change Side (FCA-LS), Evasive Steering Assist (FCA-ESA), Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (N-SCC), and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA).
For the U.S. market, the 2025 Carnival will be available with a 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine with 214 kW (287 bhp/291 metric hp) and 352.5 Nm (260 lb-ft), paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. There’ll also be a hybrid option that combines a 1.6L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, a 54 kW (72 bhp/73 metric hp) electric motor and a 6-speed automatic transmission, offering combined figures of 180.5 kW (242 bhp/245 metric hp) and 367 Nm (271 lb-ft).
The Carnival HEV features something called E-Handling, which is claimed to help improve vehicle responsiveness when entering and exiting a corner.
Korean market gets an option of a 2.2L 4-cylinder turbo diesel with 144 kW (196 metric hp) and 441 Nm (325 lb-ft), paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
