Tata Motors is expanding its BEV offerings with the Punch EV (stylized as Punch.ev), expected to go on sale later this month. Bookings are officially open at the company’s authorized outlets or online for a deposit of INR 21,000. The Punch EV is the first product to be based on the company’s new EV architecture called ‘acti.ev’.

The front fascia of the Punch EV has the same styling language as its bigger sibling, the 2023 Nexon EV. Although the EV version’s face looks significantly different compared with the ICE-powered Punch currently on sale, it appears to be offering a preview of the upcoming new Punch. But understandably, the side and rear profiles are pretty much the same as the ICE-powered Punch.
The Punch EV is gonna be offered in four trims: smart, adventure, empowered and empowered+. On the exterior, depending on the trim, you get LED headlights, DRLs, front fog lamps with cornering function, an optional sunroof, dual-tone body color, and 16-inch Diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Inside, key features include a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity, a wireless smartphone charging pad, air purifier with AQI display, and ventilated front seats. Safety features include 6 airbags, ESP, and Blind Spot Monitor.
The acti.ev architecture boasts multiple layers and is claimed to offer any configuration possible – including FWD, RWD and AWD. The rest of the details are yet to be disclosed, but Tata suggested that there’ll be multiple range options from 300 km – 600 km (186 – 373 mi). The battery pack is claimed to support DC Fast Charging up to 150 kW, therefore adding ~100 km (62 mi) range in just 10 minutes.
