As some of you might know, the made-in-India Suzuki Jimny (both 3- and 5-door versions) is being exported to markets in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Australia. Depending on the local regulations, the company is required to add or remove certain features in the vehicle, more specifically, features/hardware related to vehicle safety. The 5-door Jimny went on sale in Australia recently as ‘Jimny XL’, and gets some additional safety features that are not available in the Indian market.

In addition to 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, ESC, Hill Hold Control and Hill Descent Control, the Australian-spec Jimny 5-Door also gets Traction Control, plus ADAS such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Weaving Alert (issues audio and visual warnings if wandering is detected due to fatigue, for example) and High Beam Assist.
Other than that, it’s the same, cute-looking off-roader we all know and love here, powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 75 kW (102 metric hp) and 130 Nm (96 lb-ft) on offer. Transmission can either be a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. 4WD is standard.

The 3-door model offers head-turning colors such as Brisk Blue Metallic with black roof and Kinetic Yellow with black roof.
