The Kia EV9 is now officially on sale in all major markets around the world, with prices starting at KRW 77,280,000 in Korea,£64,995 in the UK and US$ 54,900 in the U.S. The variants and options may vary depending on the market, but for the U.S. market, the trim lineup is as follows:
Trim | MSRP |
EV9 Light RWD | $54,900 |
EV9 Light long-range RWD | $59,200 |
EV9 Wind AWD | $63,900 |
EV9 Land AWD | $69,900 |
EV9 GT-Line AWD | $73,900 |
But for reasons beyond our understanding, the base Light RWD is not yet available for reservation. Which means, if you can’t wait, you’ll have to start from the Light long-range variant with a refundable reservation payment of $750.
The photos here show the EV9 GT-Line AWD variant, which makes an attempt to appear sporty with dark elements and 21-inch wheels. But, no, I don’t understand either as to why anyone would want to look “sporty” in a three-row SUV that weighs over 2.5 tons, but apparently, that’s what the world wants now: SUVs that can do fast ‘ring laps and sports cars that can go off-roading. It’s a strange world, I know, but hey, I’m not really complaining.
For those interested in knowing the specifications, the EV9 RWD packs a single permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that offers 160.5 kW (218 metric hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). The standard battery is a 76.1 kWh unit that is claimed to offer an EPA-estimated range of 230 miles or 370 km. The long-range RWD model offers the same torque but the power output is 150 kW (204 metric hp). A 99.8 kWh battery pack is claimed to offer an EPA-estimated range of 304 miles or 489 km.

The AWD models pack an extra motor at the front, offering combined figures of 283 kW (385 metric hp) and 600 Nm (442.5 lb-ft). But wait, the GT-Line claims a torque of up to 700 Nm (516 lb-ft), a 0-60 mph (96.5 km/h) sprint time of 4.5 seconds, and a self-leveling rear suspension.
