Suzuki is all set to unveil the new Swift (unclear if it’s the 4th gen model or a facelift) at the Japan Mobility Show later this month, but just to keep the conversation going, the company has released a couple of teasers that.. well.., leave very little to the imagination.
I’m not sure what the design brief was from the bosses, but the design team has made the front fascia a bit too cartoonish. The grille with a thick lip looks more like an oval as opposed to a hexagon, and I think that’s what is contributing to the car’s cartoonish looks. The rest of the elements look okay; I mean, there’s nothing special to write about at the moment without further details. On the side, even the rear doors get pull-type door handles as opposed to the hidden type in the current gen model. At the rear, the bumper design looks a bit fussy—especially the reflector housings, but other than that, it’s a fairly clean rear fascia. Also, notice how the bonnet line connects with the shoulder line, which I think is pretty cool.
Inside, the dashboard design reminds me of that of the F80 3 Series, but I guess here it adds a “premium” touch, but I’m not entirely sure. The steering wheel and instrument cluster look familiar, as are some of the other physical controls.
We don’t have a lot of information just yet, for obvious reasons, but Suzuki claims that the new Swift will be equipped with a host of advanced safety technologies including Dual Sensor Brake Support II, Adaptive High Beam System, and Driver Monitoring System.
