MG Motor India has launched the Comet EV in the country, available at an introductory price of INR 7.98 lakh, ex-showroom, Pan India. The EV is available only in a single variant, which I guess makes it easy for both the buyer and the manufacturer.
However, buyers get to choose from three mono and two dual-tone exterior colors: Candy White, Aurora Silver, Starry Black, Candy White & Starry Black, and Apple Green & Starry Black. Key exterior highlights include LED headlights, LED taillights, a full-width light bar at both front & rear fascias, and 12-inch steel wheels with aero covers.
On the inside, the tiny Comet EV offers a wide panel that houses a driver display and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen; front power windows with driver-side auto-up; manual AC with heater; wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity; three USB ports; a 12-volt socket, and a few more. I-Smart connected car features include voice commands for certain car functionalities, and vehicle status checking on the app.
Safety systems include dual front airbags; ABS with EBD; a rearview camera; rear parking sensors; a rear LED fog lamp; front & rear seat belt reminder, and more.
The Comet EV’s rear electric motor offers 31 kW (42 metric hp) and 110 Nm (81 lb-ft). A 17.3 kWh battery pack is claimed to offer an ARAI range of up to 230 km (143 mi). With a 3.3 kW charger, you’ll need at least 7 hours to 100% charge the battery, according to the company. On the battery pack, MG is offering 8 years or 120,000 km warranty.
