You probably remember the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept we saw a couple of months ago. Well, Dodge is showcasing an updated version of it at the 2022 SEMA Show. So, where do we begin?
Well, the updated car looks a bit different compared with the original concept, thanks to a new tri-coat Stryker Red paint, and of course, a new set of 18-inch carbon fibre wheels—wrapped with 305 mm drag radials. But here’s the thing: the idea is to offer multiple power output levels—9 to be specific, and there’ll be 9 exterior paint and 9 wheel options depending on those output levels.
There’ll be two main categories: 400-volt and 800-volt. The 400-volt architecture is further divided into two output classes: 340 kW (462 metric hp/456 bhp) and 440 kW (598 metric hp/590 bhp). Each of these classes offers two upgrade kit options.
The 340 kW offers eStage 1 370 kW (503 metric hp/496 bhp) and eStage 2 400 kW (544 metric hp/536 bhp), while the 440 kW offers eStage 1 470 kW (639 metric hp/630 bhp) and eStage 2 500 kW (680 metric hp/670 bhp). These Stage 1 and Stage 2 performance upgrades use a “crystal” key that plugs into the dash.
The 800-volt architecture is christened ‘Banshee’, the details of which will be revealed at a later date. Of course, all these are still on paper, and we’ll have to wait and see how the actual production model turns out.
