It’s a production version of the 2008 Shelby GT500 Code Red experimental car.
Shelby American is offering a special ‘Code Red’ package on the model year 2020-2022 Shelby GT500 muscle cars. The package is limited to just 10 units, with each costing US$ 209,995. Remember, the price is just for the package and doesn’t include the car itself. Owners of the aforementioned model year 2020-2022 Shelby GT500 can get in touch with Shelby American to get their cars transformed into the Code Red special edition.
So, what’s this package all about? Well, on the exterior, you get a carbon fibre hood, a carbon fibre front splitter, Shelby rocker panels, carbon fibre rocker wings, Shelby rocker stripes, a carbon fibre rear wing, carbon fibre rear diffuser, 60th anniversary badging (MY 2022 only), Code Red badging, and 20-inch forged aluminium wheels. In terms of performance, you get ride-height adjustable front and rear springs; Ford Performance front and rear sway bars; MagneRide suspension recalibration, and caster camber plates.
Inside, well, as you can tell, you get special leather upholstery with Code Red embroidery; Code Red-embroidered floor mats, Code Red door sills, and of course, a numbered dashboard plate.
A numbered plate can also be found in the engine bay. Which brings us to the powertrain modifications. The 5.2-litre supercharged V8 features an extensive list of modifications including two Xona 7869S turbos (replaces the supercharger), a new fuel system, stainless steel active exhaust system, MoTeC M150 engine management system, and a lot more. And as a result, the Code Red is claimed to offer more than 746 kW (1,000 bhp/1,014 metric hp) and 1,057.5 Nm (780 lb-ft) on 93 octane pump gas, and up to 969.5 kW (1,300 bhp/1,318 metric hp) and 1,356 Nm (1,000 lb-ft) on E85.
