Chevrolet is happy to announce the launch of the first-ever Blazer EV which is all set to go on sale in the U.S. market in summer 2023 as a 2024 model. The trim lineup includes 1LT, 2LT, RS and SS, with MSRP starting at $44,995, $47,595, $51,995 and $65,995, respectively. However, the base model is not gonna be available until winter 2024 and the range-topping SS is not gonna be available until fall 2023.

When it comes to looks, you can’t go wrong by picking any of the trims; I think they all look stunning. The 1LT and 2LT trims don’t get the continuous light strip at the front, but they do get the same running light signatures above the headlights. But of course, it’s the RS and the SS, especially the latter that looks the best in the lineup. The EV rides on 19-inch wheels as standard, but the RS and SS ride on 21-inch and 22-inch wheels, respectively.

The Blazer EV uses GM’s Ultium Platform for EVs that allows for multiple drive options including front-wheel-drive, all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive. However, you’re not gonna get all three options in all four trims. The 1LT is gonna be FWD only, while the 2LT is gonna offer FWD and AWD options, depending on the battery pack size. It’s the RS that’s gonna offer all three options: FWD, AWD and RWD, but again, depends on the battery pack size. The range-topping SS is gonna be AWD only.

Chevy is yet to share full details, but we currently only have information on the SS. It’ll offer combined figures of 415.5 kW (565 metric hp/557 bhp) and 878.5 Nm (648 lb-ft), and those will be only in something called WOW (Wide Open Watts) mode. The same mode is also claimed to offer a 0-60 mph (96.5 km/h) sprint time of less than 4 seconds. Front Brembo brakes and trim-specific sport-tuned chassis are some of the other key highlights of the Blazer EV SS. The battery pack capacity is yet to be shared, but the RS is claimed to offer up to 515 km (320 mi) range.

The battery pack boasts DC fast-charging capability of up to 190 kW, and if you manage to find such a public charger, you can apparently add 125 km (78 mi) in 10 minutes. The vehicle comes standard with a 11.5 kW AC charger.

The cockpit design has just as oomph factor as the exterior design, especially in the Blazer EV SS’ black-red dual-tone theme. I hope Mercedes is okay with Chevy stealing those turbine-style air vents. There’s a lot of tech on the inside, obviously. A 17.7-inch touchscreen and a 11-inch driver display is standard across the trims. The Super Cruise hands-free driving tech is an optional extra.

Standard ADAS include the usual stuff such as Automatic Emergency Braking; Front Pedestrian Braking; Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning; Forward Collision Alert; Following Distance Indicator, and IntelliBeam auto high beams.
