The second-gen Land Rover Defender lineup is now joined by an even longer Defender 130, with prices in the UK starting at £73,895 (OTR). A specially commissioned Defender 130 will be handed over to Her Majesty to honor her Platinum Jubilee; however, the vehicle will be donated to the British Red Cross later this year. The Defender 130 will be available in SE, HSE, X-Dynamic, X and First Edition trims.
Notice in that side profile comparison picture that both Defender 110 and Defender 130 have the same wheelbase of 3,022 mm, but it’s the tail section that is longer by 340 mm, increasing the overall length to 5,358 mm. Nope, when it comes to length, I think the Wagoneer L models still retain the crown.
Electronic Air Suspension system comes standard, which allows for up to 430 mm of articulation, with 71.5 mm of additional lift at the front and 73.5 mm at the rear. Water wading depth is claimed to be 900 mm. The Defender 130 also boasts a towing capacity of up to 3,000 kg (6,614 lbs).
The Defender 130 is available either with 5- or up to 8-seats, with the former offering up to 2,516 litres of luggage space when the second row is folded. The 8-seater configuration offers up to 2,291 litres when both second and third rows are folded and when all three rows are in place, the capacity is 389 litres.
Other key features include a standard 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen, Cabin Air Purification Plus, PM2.5 Cabin Air Filtration, and a standard panoramic sunroof with a second sunroof above the third row. The First Edition builds on the HSE trim and comes with a list of standard features, including three interior theme options with different leather combos; Matrix LED headlights; heated second and third-row seating; four-zone climate control; Meridian Sound System; Driver Assist Pack, and Privacy Glass.
The Defender 130 is offered with P300 (3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol; 221 kW/300 metric hp and 470 Nm/347 lb-ft), P400 (3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol; 294 kW/400 metric hp and 550 Nm/406 lb-ft), D250 (3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel; 184 kW/250 metric hp and 600 Nm/442.5 lb-ft) and D300 (3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel; 221 kW/300 metric hp and 650 Nm/479 lb-ft) powertrain options, all combined with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The latest version of Terrain Response system comes standard as well.
