Remember the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail we saw last year? Well, the company has revealed the second example at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event in Italy. The Boat Tail originally debuted as a bespoke, one-off commission (rumored to be by Jay-Z), but Rolls-Royce apparently obtained permission from the original client to build two more examples, and what we are seeing here is the second of three.
While the original Boat Tail was painted in baby blue, the second example has a color theme inspired by pearls, thanks to the client’s family business. The exterior color is a shimmering blend of oyster and soft rose, mixed with white and bronze mica flakes. The contrasting cognac-colored bonnet contains fine bronze and gold-colored aluminium mica flakes—complete with a layer of crystal and iced matt clear coat. The Spirit of Ecstasy is in rose gold.
At the rear, the now-famous hosting suite is swathed in Royal Walnut veneer, inlaid with satin rose gold-plated pinstripes. The Royal Walnut was specifically selected by the client as its tone will gradually transition into a cognac color, eventually matching the bonnet.
The interior is curated in a combo of matched cognac and oyster-colored leathers and Royal Walnut veneer, with rose gold and mother-of-pearl accents throughout. The transmission tunnel also features Royal Walnut veneer with rose gold pinstripes. The timepiece on the dashboard is made from mother-of-pearl, supplied by the client from his own collection.
