Mahindra has partially revealed the second-gen Scorpio, ahead of its market launch on June 27, 2022. The new Scorpio is christened ‘Scorpio-N’ because Mahindra wants to continue to sell the current-gen Scorpio—badged as Scorpio Classic.
Mahindra claims that the Scorpio-N is built on a new body-on-frame chassis, unlike the XUV700—which is a monocoque crossover.
The styling looks clean compared with typical Mahindra designs which always look overdone. The front fascia has twin-pod LED headlights with integrated running lights at the top that line up with the upper chrome grille. It appears that the running lights don’t double as turn signals, as the turn signals are a separate line at the bottom. Also, notice the new Mahindra logo. Although the new styling looks a bit of a departure from the current one, there are some hints to the lineage, such as the shape of the grille itself and an upswept window line on the rear side door. The teaser clip shows Volvo-ish taillights, but let’s wait for some clear images or footage.
We don’t have a lot of information just yet, obviously, but Mahindra said that the Scorpio-N is gonna offer petrol and diesel engine options with manual and automatic transmission choices. There’ll also be a 4×4 option, of course.
Our newest SUV is laden with advanced technologies and will offer spirited performance and superior driving dynamics. It is built on a new body-on-frame platform. This tough yet sophisticated SUV has been engineered and designed by our young, enthusiastic, and energetic teams at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) near Chennai, Mahindra North American Technical Center (MNATC) in the USA and Mahindra Design Studio in Mumbai. – R Velusamy, President, Automotive Technology and Product Development, M&M Ltd.
