Renault Kwid continues it success story in India by crossing 1 lakh sales milestone in just over a year. Developed mainly for the Indian market, the Kwid is based on CMF-A platform jointly developed by Renault-Nissan alliance, and was launched in India on September 2015.
The Kwid has an SUV inspired design which attracted a lot of buyers, and is now offered in three different variants – 800 cc, 1.0 Manual and 1.0 AMT. While the Kwid for Brazil is being manufactured there locally, for SAARC countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh will be exported from India. Other than its looks, perhaps its the segment first feature like 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation which contributed to its success story.
The Kwid is undoubtedly the biggest contributor to the company’s sales in India. Sumit Sawhney, MD & CEO, Renault India, said – “So far from January to August 2016, we have sold 87,000 cars out of which 65,000 units are Kwid.”
