Kia has updated the Telluride SUV for 2023 with revised exterior styling, upgraded onboard technology, and new X-Line and X-Pro trims. Pricing is yet to be announced, but you can catch the vehicle at the New York Auto Show until April 24th. The X-Line trim replaces the Telluride Nightfall Edition.
Styling revisions include new standard LED headlights, new LED taillights, new front & rear bumpers, new wheel designs, and three new exterior colors: Midnight Lake Blue, Dawning Red and Jungle Wood Green. The Telluride X-Line gets a unique radiator grille design, bridge-type roof rails, body-colored door handles, and exclusive 20-inch wheels. Inside, you get “X-Line” embossing on front seat upper backrests. This variant also gets an additional 10 mm ground clearance, improved approach and departure angles, tow mode for optimized trailering performance, and upgraded Traction Control System.
The Telluride X-Pro gets (in addition to or in place of X-Line features) exclusive 18-inch black wheels wrapped with all-terrain tyres. Inside, you get “X-Pro” embossing on front seat upper backrests, and a 110-volt inverter outlet in the cargo area.
The refreshed cabin features a new dashboard with a curved panel that houses two optional 12.3-inch displays. Other key features of the 2023 model include optional Full Display Mirror with HomeLink functionality (replacing standard rearview mirror), and optional Smart Power Liftgate with Auto Close functionality. Features carried over from the previous model year include upgraded head-up display (8.5- to 10-inches), Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, optional wireless smartphone charging, up to six USB charging ports (two in each row), optional 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, Quiet Mode (cuts audio output in second and third row so the audio choices of the front occupants are only heard in that row), and Rear Occupant Alert.
The ADAS suite includes a long list of features, but new standard additions include Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (max speed sign recognition that alerts driver and also limits the speed of the car depending on the settings) and Forward Collision Avoidance – Junction Turning (detects oncoming vehicles while turning left at an intersection and takes appropriate action to prevent an accident).
No mechanical changes whatsoever. The Telluride continues to be powered by a 3.8-litre V6 naturally aspirated petrol engine with 217 kW (295 metric hp) and 355 Nm (262 lb-ft) of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission drives the front wheels as standard, while AWD is optionally available.
A self-leveling rear suspension can also be found in the options list. Ride height is automatically calibrated depending on vehicle load to optimize control and stability.
