Bugatti has shared one more update on the hyper-limited hypercar, the Centodieci. The pre-production prototype has now completed a cumulative 50,000+ test kilometeres (31,068+ mi) and is about to enter production at the Molsheim atelier. The hypercar completed its final endurance testing on the Nardò ring in Italy.
The 12.6 km (7.8 mi)-long circular track with a diameter of 4 km (2.5 mi) is considered to be the fastest automotive circuit in the world—perfect for the 380 km/h (236 mph) Centodieci. The 6.2 km (3.8 mi)-long handling course on the inner section enables checks at the highest load levels and with longitudinal and transverse dynamics.
The final testing included driving on different surfaces—both wet and dry—testing every little steering movement, braking, acceleration, cornering load, and functionality of the driver assistance systems.
Compared with the Chiron, the Centodieci saves ~20 kg (44 lbs) of unladen weight but packs 1,177 kW (1,600 metric hp)—the same as the Chiron Super Sport. It debuted at the 2019 Monterey Car Week as the marque’s 110th-anniversary special. The name Centodieci translates to 110 for us non-Italians. But Bugatti ain’t building 110 units though; it has yanked off one 1 from 110.
