Volvo Cars is offering a special Black Edition on the S60 sedan in the U.S. market, with MSRP starting under $40,000. Limited to 450 units for the model year 2022, the S60 Black Edition is available on the S60 Recharge PHEV, S60 Momentum mild-hybrid, and also on R-Design trims.
The S60 Black edition can be had with either Onyx Black Metallic or Crystal White Metallic paint job, both of which are combined with gloss black elements such as the grille, window surrounds, ORVMs, badges, and of course, the 19-inch wheels. For obvious reasons, the black elements offer a better contrast with the white paint. But I’m a big fan of the cars fully drenched in black as well.
No mechanical changes. The S60 offers a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 194 kW (264 metric hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The PHEV models are AWD as standard, combining a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged & supercharged petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined 298 kW (405 metric hp) and 640 Nm (472 lb-ft) of torque; transmission is an 8-speed automatic. The PHEV models claim to offer a pure electric range of up to 35 km (22 mi).
