The 4th gen Skoda Fabia has now got the Monte Carlo variant with spiced-up looks inside and out. Pricing is yet to be announced, but the sporty hatch has already been listed on the official Skoda Czech website.
On the exterior, the Fabia Monte Carlo features contrasting black elements such as the grille, the mirror caps, the window frame on the side, badges on the tailgate, and a diffuser-like insert on the rear bumper. With the optional dual-tone paint scheme, the A-pillars will also come in black, which otherwise would be in body color. Speaking of colors, red is not the only one on offer; there are other colors too, such as white, silver, orange, blue, gray and black. The car comes with exclusive 16-inch ‘Proxima’ alloy wheels, while there are optional 17-inch ‘Procyon’ alloy wheels with aero inserts in black and 18-inch ‘Libra’ alloy wheels. A little ‘Monte Carlo’ badge on the front fender rounds off the exterior looks.
The dark-themed cabin of the Fabia Monte Carlo looks just as spicy as the exterior, with red accents on the dashboard, doors and on the centre console as well. Not entirely sure if this accent color is exterior body color-dependent or remains red regardless of the exterior body color. But anyway, there’s a flat-bottom steering wheel—which is always a welcome feature, and also a carbon fibre-like (fake) pattern on the dashboard and sports seats—which might not be up to everyone’s tastes, but looks good nonetheless. Adding more to the drama are the stainless steel pedal covers. As you might expect, the rest of the features have been carried over from the regular model.
No mechanical changes either. The Fabia Monte Carlo offers the same powertrain options as the regular Fabia, right from a 59 kW (80 metric hp) 1.0L 3-cylinder naturally aspirated MPI unit coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox to a 110 kW (150 metric hp) 1.5L 4-cylinder TSI unit coupled with a 7-speed DSG automatic. The range-topping Fabia Monte Carlo boasts a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 8 seconds and a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph), should such things interest you.
