The last unit of the Citroën C1 rolled off the production line at the TMMCZ plant in Kolín, Czech Republic, recently, marking the end of the tiny city car. Citroën has sold nearly 1.2 million units since 2005. While one of its platform siblings Peugeot 108 bid Au revoir last year, the other sibling Toyota Aygo got promoted to Aygo X in November 2021, following Toyota taking full control of the Czech plant earlier that year.
So, what’s gonna replace the C1? Well, Citroën points at the even tinier Ami, and adds that those looking for more space and practicality can go for the C3. Of course, it is referring to the Euro-spec C3 and not the 2022 C3 designed for Brazil and India, although both versions are more or less the same size.
Depending on the market, the C1 was offered with either a 73 metric hp 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine or an 83 metric hp 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine; both paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Some of the key features included an electric sunroof and a 7-inch touchscreen with Mirror Screen function.
