The second-gen BMW 2 Series Coupé is getting another engine variant but I’m afraid it might not be the one you’re expecting. But don’t worry, the new M2 Competition should arrive in the not too distant future. But anyway, today’s topic is about the 230i Coupé which slots between the 220i and the M240i xDrive.
It’s a petrol variant, packing a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged unit, tuned to produce 180 kW (245 metric hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. Transmission remains an 8-speed ZF, driving the rear wheels. This variant claims a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 5.9 seconds, should such things matter to you. Among other things, an M sports differential is available in the options list. Depending on the market, this new variant is expected to be available from March 2022.
The new 2 Series Active Tourer is yet to go on sale in many markets but BMW has released some updates for this one as well. Speaking of which, the 223i xDrive (all-wheel-drive) variant will join the lineup from March 2022. As with its FWD sibling, the AWD 223i is powered by a mild-hybrid powertrain comprising a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, offering an output of 160 kW or 218 metric hp.
A new Piedmont Red metallic body color will join the palette from March 2022. Also, the optional Driving Assistant Plus has been expanded to include Steering and Lane Guidance Assist. At speeds of up to 180 km/h (112 mph), the system uses corrective steering interventions to help keep the vehicle in the centre of the lane. The steering assistance also ensures that an ideal distance to lane markings and vehicles on the adjacent lane is maintained when driving through narrow spaces.
