As you know, Kia decided that instead of another new SUV, it’ll offer an MPV version of the Hyundai Alcazar. Now, interestingly, parent Hyundai is baking a Hyundai-branded version of the new Carens, purportedly named ‘Stargazer’. The MPV has been spotted testing in its home country.
The terrible “spy shots” still give us a good idea of the MPV’s styling. Speaking of which, the front fascia kinda reminds me of the Staria minivan but appears to have unique styling. The running lights, for instance, don’t appear to be a continuous light strip like in the Staria, and the headlights and taillights have angular shapes. The side profile appears to be fairly simple, which is surprising when compared with some of the polarising designs we have seen from Hyundai recently. That said, let’s wait for the camouflage to be taken off completely.
While it is not surprising that the Stargazer might share powertrains with the Carens, it is unclear at the moment if the MPV will be launched in India as well. It probably depends on the success of the Carens.
