While it is true that carmakers around the world are going crazy churning out new SUVs, it is refreshing to know that Skoda is baking a new sedan for the Indian market under the India 2.0 project that was announced over three years ago. The first project of this project (Kushaq-Taigun duo) is already out in the market, and the second one is the Slavia—expected to make its global debut on 18 November 2021. The Slavia will also sit on the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform.
The name ‘Slavia’ might sound familiar to some of you, and that is because the name was used for a student project, but of course, both cars have nothing to do with each other except for the badges.
But anyway, Skoda has teased the interior of the Slavia sedan, which unsurprisingly looks identical to that of the Kushaq. The only differences you might notice are those circular air vents as opposed to hexagonal in the Kushaq. Another trivial fact is that the Slavia will borrow engines from her SUV sibling.
It is unclear at this time if Skoda is planning to retire the Rapid sedan in the country after launching the Slavia.
