Volkswagen India has released couple of teaser images of its performance hatcback – the Polo GTI on its social media channels, suggesting the launch might be just around the corner.
The Polo GTI that’s gonna go on sale in India, will be a 3 door model, and has been spotted testing around its plant near Pune several times. The car will be powered by a 1.8 litre TSI petrol engine producing 189 bhp @ 5300 rpm and 250 Nm of torque @ 1250 rpm, and comes mated to a 7 Speed DSG transmission. 0-100 km/h for this variant is rated at 6.7 seconds. Top speed is limited to 235 km/h.
Expected standard equipment include dual front airbags, curtain airbags, ABS+EBD, ESC, ASR (Traction Control), Automatic Climate Control, cruise control, hill hold, touchscreen infotainment system with bluetooth telephony and navigation, 6 speakers and so on. The Polo GTI will ride on 17 inch wheels. Unlike the regular Polo, the GTI variant is not manufactured/assembled in India, and hence will come with a hefty price tag.
