2022 Infiniti Q50 debuts with more standard equipment

Infiniti has updated the Q50 for 2022 with standard onboard tech and additional standard equipment. The 2022 Q50 is expected in the U.S. and Canadian showrooms later this month and will be offered in three trims: Luxe, Sensory and Red Sport 400, priced at US$ 42,100, US$ 47,800 and US$ 55,950, respectively.

Visually, the 2022 model looks the same as it looked last year, or the year before that. However, the photos here showcase the sportier Q50 Red Sport which gets black exterior accents, some carbon fibre decorations, dual exhaust tips with a brushed satin finish, and an exclusive 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheel design. The Luxe gets 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, while the Sensory rides on 19-inch ones as well.

Inside, every new Q50 features standard Bose Performance Series audio system and wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility for 2022. In addition, features such as power-folding outside mirrors with reverse tilt-down; leather-appointed seats; driver’s seat power lumbar adjustment; power tilt and telescoping steering wheel; and a dual-occupant memory system for the driver’s seat that remembers steering wheel, seat, and outside mirror position—linked to individual keys, are all standard across the trims.

All Q50 trims ride on a four-wheel independent suspension, while the Q50 Red Sport gets something called Dynamic Digital Suspension, which is said to constantly adjust the shock absorber valves within a wide range of damping force to control body motion when cornering.

For 2022, every Q50 is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that pumps out 224 kW (305 metric hp/300 bhp), or 298 kW (405 metric hp/400 bhp) if you get the Q50 Red Sport 400. The engine is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission featuring manual shift mode and Downshift Rev Matching. Power is channeled to the rear wheels as standard, however, AWD is available on all trims. The Q50 Red Sport also gets a “sonorous” exhaust note.
