Mazda has updated the CX-5 for 2022 for the American market, with subtle styling tweaks and standard AWD across the lineup. The 2022 CX-5 is expected in the U.S. showrooms this winter.
Apparently, for the new model year, the designers focused on refining the front and rear ends, minimizing character lines in favor of reflective body surfaces. The grille has a new 3D pattern that replaces the mesh surface. There are new headlights and new 19-inch alloy wheels. The cabin would feature premium materials such as Nappa leather and genuine woodgrain.
The 2022 CX-5 turbo models will receive additional styling enhancements to further distinguish them from non-turbo models. These include gloss black elements such as the grille, mirror caps, wheel arches, lower bumper inserts, and 19-inch black alloy wheels. The cabin would feature black leather upholstery with red contrast stitching.
Suspension and chassis updates offer a comfy ride and a quieter cabin. And of course, Mazda also said that the i-Activ AWD system is gonna be standard on all CX-5 models for 2022.
The rest of the things will most likely remain unchanged, including the powertrains. The 2.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine offers 139 kW (190 metric hp) and 252 Nm (186 lb-ft) of torque; there’s also a turbo variant of that engine, offering 169 kW (230 metric hp) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. If you can find a premium 93 Octane fuel, the turbo petrol offers 186 kW (253 metric hp) and 434 Nm (320 lb-ft). Both engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox
