It is, after all, an all-wheel-drive SUV for all.
Subaru has teased the all-electric Solterra crossover, scheduled to go on sale in mid-2022 as a 2023 model. The Solterra is, of course, the official name of the Toyota bZ4X concept that we saw not too long ago.
The name ‘Solterra’ is a portmanteau of Latin words for “Sun” and “Earth”, and has nothing to do with single ladies. Although the teasers pretend to hide the exterior styling, we can figure out that it’ll remain mostly unchanged from the concept, save for the badges.
Inside, the Solterra adopts a more traditional-looking steering wheel as opposed to a yoke-like one in the bZ4X concept. The rest of the things appear to remain unchanged; notice an interesting pattern on the dashboard.
Technical details are not yet available, obviously. But Subaru has confirmed that the Solterra will come with all-wheel-drive as standard.
