Mazda has announced the U.S. pricing for the all-electric MX-30, which starts at $33,470 in California. That’s right, Mazda is launching the MX-30 initially in California. The crossover is expected to arrive at Californian dealerships this fall as a 2022 model. A plug-in hybrid version is also coming later in 2022, but that’s a different story.

Believe it or not, the MX-30 made its global debut nearly two years ago. It adopts the brand’s Kodo-Soul of Motion design language, which is a simple yet elegant design language. The D-pillar applique with Mazda branding comes in black as standard or in silver in the higher trim. Notice a multi-tone paint finish, where the upper window line along with the D-pillar is in a lighter gray shade while the roof is in black. The actual body is of course, in a different color. Speaking of body colors, buyers get to choose from Polymetal Gray, Ceramic Metallic, or Soul Red Crystal. For those who want a single-tone, you get to choose from Ceramic Metallic, Polymetal Gray or Jet Black. And as standard, the MX-30 rides on 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

Inside the MX-30, sustainability is the order of the day. Certain materials are made of recycled plastic bottles and cork; the seat fabrics, for example, use 20% recycled threads. Read more here. Other features include an 8.8-inch central touchscreen, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, a 7-inch driver display, power moonroof, an 8-way power driver seat with power lumbar support and memory, and a rearview camera with rear parking sensors.

ADAS include Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Smart Brake Support, Rear Direction Base Safety (Smart Brake Support-Reverse & Rear Cross-Traffic Braking), Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist with new Road Keep Assist, Driver Attention Alert, and High Beam Control.

There’s also a Premium Plus package for an additional $3,010, which gets you Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, heated steering wheel, 360° View Monitor with front parking sensors, a complimentary 3-month trial of SiriusXM satellite radio, and more ADAS such as Blind Spot Assist (enhances Blind Spot Monitoring with steering assist) and Front Cross Traffic Alert.

The MX-30 is powered by a single electric motor at the front, developing 107 kW (145 metric hp) and 271 Nm (200 lb-ft) of torque. A 35.5 kWh battery pack delivers an EPA estimated range of up to 161 km (100 mi) on a full charge. With a 50 kW DC fast charger, the battery pack can be filled up to 80% in about 36 minutes, according to Mazda.

A G-Vectoring Control Plus (e-GVC Plus) system uses electric motor torque adjustments to control vehicle load and help with natural and consistent handling, Mazda said.
