Porsche has revealed the 911 Turbo S ‘One of a Kind’ as a tribute to Mexican racing driver Pedro Rodríguez. As the name suggests, it’s a one-off, which will be auctioned off later this year with the proceeds going to various charitable causes.
With two Formula One Grand Prix wins, a victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and four triumphs in the 24 Hours of Daytona, Pedro Rodríguez is undoubtedly the most successful Mexican racing driver of all time. During his short yet illustrious career, he walked away with 11 titles in the World Championship of Makes — now known as the World Endurance Championship (WEC) — and he helped Porsche win the series in 1970 and 1971.
Eight of his 11 wins were in the Porsche 917 KH, which are engraved under the rear spoiler of the tribute car. The tribute car wears a similar Gulf livery as the 917 KH, complemented with high-gloss black-painted wheels. The number two alludes to his two world endurance championships. The cockpit features graphite blue leather upholstery with orange contrast stitching and details; notice the 917 silhouette on the integrated headrests. Rodríguez’s signature can be seen on the centre armrest and on the carbon fibre dashboard trim. The car also comes with a bespoke luggage set in graphite blue leather with orange stitching.
