Rivian is getting a network of service centres across America ready as it ramps up production of R1T and R1S. At present, there are five service centres, located in Brooklyn, New York; Bellevue, Washington; Normal, Illinois; and San Francisco and El Segundo, California.
The company offered a glimpse of these service centres and indeed, they look pretty fancy with a coffee shop-like relaxed ambience. There are different types of chairs, sofas, artworks, plants and whatnot. Since the vehicles are electric, there’s not gonna be too much work involved in servicing them; which means, sadly, the customers won’t be spending too much time either enjoying that relaxed ambience.
The customers who don’t live near a Rivian service centre can rest assured as Rivian has a fleet of mobile service vans which can service the vehicle right at your doorstep, or at least that’s the plan. As with most modern cars these days which come with connected car services, scheduling a service is done via Rivian’s mobile app.
The R1S comes in three variants: Launch Edition (sold out), Adventure Package and Explore Package, with prices starting at $75,500, $75,500 and $70,000, respectively. The R1T comes in three variants too, but slightly cheaper: Launch Edition (sold out), Adventure Package and Explore Package, with prices starting at $73,000, $73,000 and $67,500, respectively. If everything goes according to plan, deliveries will commence from Jan 2022.
