Aston Martin launches new configurator, DB11 V8 gets more power for 2022

Aston Martin has rolled out a bunch of updates for 2022, which are not only about the cars themselves but also a brand new online configurator developed in collaboration with MHP — a Porsche company.

Thanks to Unreal Engine, the configurator allows the user to change the environment from studio to a scenic location and also between day and night views. A 360-degree exterior view is also available. The rest of the things you can play with include the exterior paint, the roof (body-colored, gloss black, or carbon fibre), wheels, brake calipers, smoked taillights, interior color theme, contrast stitching, seat belts, steering wheel, interior jewelry (dark chrome or carbon fibre) and a few more.

The configurator is fairly easy to understand and offers all possible options that’ll help visualize the car of your dreams. However, one option that is missing at present is an interior 360-degree view. Instead, the configurator offers a 180-degree view. Nonetheless, it’s a pretty good configurator and you can give it a try here. Cars listed include DBX, DB11 (V12 and V8), DBS, and Vantage. The DB11 V12 loses the AMR branding and so is the DBS with Superleggera branding. This decision, according to Aston, was to “simplify nomenclature” across the lineup.

Which then brings us to the DB11 V8. For 2022, the AMG-sourced 4.0L V8 biturbo motor pumps out 393 kW (535 metric hp), which is 25 metric hp more, enabling a top speed of 309 km/h (192 mph).

In addition, the DB11 can now be ordered with the optional Sports Plus seats which are claimed to offer extra support to the shoulders, thorax and legs for both the driver and passenger. The 2022 Vantage and DBS models get new 21-inch wheel designs, while the marque’s first SUV, the DBX, can be configured with 23-inch wheels, new Sports Plus seats and wireless charging. For added convenience, the device’s charge status is integrated into the infotainment display.
