Pune based Tork Motorcycles started pre-bookings for what is said to be India’s first all-electric bike named Tork T6X, priced at Rs 1,24,999 lakh, ex-showroom (introductory price). The initial markets will be Pune, Bengaluru and Delhi, and there’ll be three colours will be on offer.
Kapil Shelke, co-founder of Tork Motorcycles says that the T6X is ideal for those who choose city riding and the bike can be equivalent to a 200cc petrol-powered motorcycle. With the immediate surge of torque available right from the word go, the T6X promises to be quick off the line. The motorcycle also falls under the central government’s FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) initiative and is eligible for subsidies.
The Tork T6X is powered by an 8 hp/27 Nm electric motor, and according to Tork, the T6X will hit between 85 and 100 kmph flat out, and offer a 100 km range on a full charge. The full charge, from a 15A socket will take two hours. However, about 80% of charge is possible within an hour. The company says the batteries are good to go for 1000 charging cycles, which can last upto 1,00,000 kms.
The company’s TIROS (Tork Intuitive Response System) offers different driving modes to suit rider’s needs, and also updates and incorporates new features via cloud. The Tork T6X also comes with a 4.3 inch touchscreen with navigation.
The Tork T6X also boasts of safety features such as ABS, anti-theft system and Geo fencing.
And there’s also a Tork mobile app as expected.
Earlier, the same company had converted the popular Yamaha FZ into an electric bike which made 40 bhp and 61 Nm of torque. The company had also offered electric modification kits to the bikes.
