BMW Motorrad has launched the S 1000 R in India, with prices starting at INR 17.90 lakh ex-showroom, Pan India. The S 1000 R is essentially a naked version of the S 1000 RR, and is available in three variants:

The motorcycles come with a standard warranty of 3 years/unlimited kilometers, with an option to extend the warranty up to 5 years. A 24×7 Road-Side Assistance package is also offered.
Features list includes full LED lighting, a 6.5-inch TFT display, standard four riding modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro, and ABS Pro. The optional Riding Modes Pro comes with ‘Power Wheelie’ and engine drag torque control (MSR) functions, and also the Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) which keeps the rider safe during emergency braking manoeuvres.
The motorcycle is powered by a 999 cc in-line 4-cylinder water-cooled engine that develops 121 kW (165 metric hp) at 11,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 114 Nm (84 lb-ft) at 9,250 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring an anti-hopping clutch. A 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is claimed to take 3.2 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
