Tesla’s next-door tuner Unplugged Performance has revealed a race-prepped version of the Model S Plaid that is all set to take part in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 27, 2021, with race car driver and journalist Randy Pobst behind the wheel. Photos by @klwtts.
On the exterior, the range-topping model carries a gigantic adjustable wing on the boot lid, and to accompany that, there’s an equally gigantic spoiler at the front. I’m told that the race car retains the factory air springs, however, it employs custom Bilstein dampers and a three-way adjustable anti-roll bar at the rear. The forged aluminum wheels are wrapped with Yokohama slicks.
As the photos would suggest, the cabin has been stripped down to bare essentials such as a racing seat with six-point harness, instrument display, and of course, a roll cage. It is unclear if this race-prepped Model S Plaid produces anything more than 760 kW (1,033 metric hp/1,020 bhp), but according to Unplugged Performance, the car can “easily surpass” 150 mph (241 km/h) at Laguna Seca Raceway.
