Mercedes-Benz has launched the Maybach GLS in India, available in GLS 600 4Matic variant, priced at INR 2.43 crore, ex-showroom, Pan India. The company claimed that it had received bookings for 50+ units even before the market debut and the next batch will be imported by Q1 2022.
The Maybachified version of the GLS made its global debut in November 2019. It features distinctive looks over the regular GLS, thanks to a pinstripe grille, 22-inch multi-spoke wheels (23-inch globally), Maybach logo on the D-pillars, and of course, oodles of chrome.
Other features include reclinable rear seats (by 43.5 degrees), Airmatic air suspension with Adaptive Damping System Plus (ADS+), and E-Active Body Control. The Driving Assistance package adds Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist, and Active Steering Assist.
Powering the Maybach GLS 600 is a 4.0-litre (3,982 cc) V8 biturbo petrol engine that develops 410 kW (557 metric hp) and 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) of torque. The EQ boost adds 22 hp and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque for short periods. A 9-speed torque converter automatic drives all four wheels. Read more here.
