Czinger 21C production model retains 1,250 horses, gets 1,350 hp option

L.A.-based Czinger Vehicles has revealed the production version and final specifications of the 21C hybrid hypercar. The company said that it has refined the car since its debut early last year and plans to build only 80 units.

The improvements are not immediately obvious, but if you look a couple more times, you’ll notice redesigned aero elements, including the front spoiler, flics/canards, side skirts, rear fenders, rear wing and the rear diffuser as well. The hypercar is also sporting a new set of wheels. Czinger claims that the hypercar generates 615 kg (1,356 lbs) downforce at 161 km/h (100 mph) and 2,500 kg (5,511 lbs) downforce at 322 km/h (200 mph) in high downforce configuration.

The 2.88-litre flat-plane crank V8 twin-turbo motor is coupled with an 800-volt electric drive and regen system. Each front wheel is powered by an individual electric motor, enabling torque vectoring. The system output is claimed to be 920 kW (1,250 metric hp/1,233 bhp) at 11,000 rpm. However, there’s a 74 kW (100 metric hp) upgrade which takes the total to 993 kW (1,350 metric hp). The gearbox is a 7-speed sequential AMT. The engine can accept methanol and other e-fuels too, which might vary the output figures.

Responding to an email, a Czinger spokesperson said that the cockpit remains largely unchanged from last year.

With a dry weight of under 1,240 kg (2,734 lbs), the 21C boasts a true 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. As for official performance figures, Czinger claims a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 1.9 seconds; 0-300 km/h (186 mph) in 8.5 seconds; and 0-400 km/h (248 mph) in 21.3 seconds. A 0-400 km/h-0 is claimed to take 27.1 seconds. The top speed is claimed to be 452 km/h (281 mph) in optional low drag vmax configuration.
