For whatever reason should you find the 612 metric hp and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque in the stock AMG GLS 63 to be insufficient, don’t worry, the folks at Bottrop have a solution.
They’ll offer you two special turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and modified core assembly with reinforced axial bearings that produce a maximum boost pressure of 1.6 bar. This, of course, requires reprogramming the electronic boost pressure control, new mapping for injection and ignition, all introduced via the Brabus PowerXtra plug-and-play module. As a result, the 4.0L V8 twin-turbo motor pumps out 588 kW (800 metric hp) at 5,900 rpm and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) at a low 3,500 rpm. The 2.6+ metric ton SUV is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds, should such things interest you. The top speed, however, is limited to 280 km/h (174 mph) due to the said weight.
Brabus will also offer a quad stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with active flaps. The driver can switch between a throaty V8 in ‘Sport’ mode and a subtle whisper in ‘Coming Home’ mode. Of course, the exterior and interior of the SUV are decorated with delicious-looking naked carbon elements. Also, a special control module for Airmatic air suspension lowers the ride height of the vehicle by 25 mm. This Brabusized GLS rides on massive 24-inch forged wheels.
