BMW is busy baking a drop-top version of the second generation M4 Coupé and a prototype was spotted doing Nürburgring laps, suggesting an official debut in the not too distant future. The video clip also gives a taste of the car’s exhaust note.
The important difference you can notice between the first-gen M4 Convertible and the new one is that the latter is rocking a soft-top roof as opposed to a hardtop in the predecessor, mostly due to weight reasons. The rest of the car looks fairly identical to its Coupé sibling.
The 3.0-litre straight-six twin-turbo motor is expected to pump out the same 510 metric hp (375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque in the Competition variant. However, the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time might slightly differ.
