Honda Cars India (HCIL) is recalling a total of 77,954 vehicles manufactured between January 2019 to September 2020 to replace faulty fuel pumps. “The fuel pumps installed in these vehicles may contain defective impellers, which could, over time result in engine stopping or not starting,” the company said in an official statement.
The Amaze is the most affected model with 36,086 units, followed by the 4th gen City with 20,248 units. It appears that the supplier who supplied faulty fuel pumps to Maruti has supplied the same to HCIL as well.
The replacement will be carried out free of cost at the authorized dealerships across India in a phased manner starting from 17th April 2021. The owners will be contacted by the dealers. In the meantime, owners can also check whether their cars are covered under this campaign by submitting a 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) here.
