Mercedes-Benz India has launched the A-Class sedan (dubbed A-Class Limousine) in the country, with ex-showroom prices starting at INR 39.90 lakh. The AMG A 35 variant is also available and all variants are being assembled locally at the company’s Pune facility.

The A-Class sedan made its global debut in April 2018 in China with a long wheelbase variant. About 3 months later, a standard wheelbase model was revealed for the global markets, followed by the AMG A 35 in March 2019.
Features for the Indian market include LED headlights, LED taillight signatures, a panoramic sunroof, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The AMG variant, of course, gets a sporty body kit with unique alloy wheels. There are 6 exterior paint finishes to choose from: Cosmos Black, Iridium Silver, Denim Blue, Mojave Silver, Mountain Grey and Polar White.
Features in the cabin include MBUX system, 2-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging, electrically adjustable front seats with memory, Burmester surround sound system, and safety features including Pre-Safe system. Download the brochure here.
Moving on to the juicy bits, the A 200 is powered by a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 120 kW (163 metric hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque on offer, and is paired with a 7-speed DCT. The A 200d packs a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that develops 110 kW (149 metric hp) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque; the gearbox here is an 8-speed DCT.
The AMG A 35 on the other end is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 225 kW (306 metric hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque on offer. A 7-speed DCT drives all four wheels.
