Dacia has launched the Spring EV in France, with prices starting at €12,403 (including government bonus), making it the cheapest electric vehicle for the masses in the market. It is cheaper than the Twingo Electric and SEAT Mii Electric (Skoda Citigoᵉ iV/VW e-up!). For those who don’t want to purchase it outright, the Spring EV is also available for rental, starting at €89 a month.

The Dacia Spring EV was revealed in October last year as the European version of the Renault K-ZE that is on sale in China. The K-ZE is, of course, an all-electric version of the Renault Kwid. Features include LED running lights, 14-inch ‘Flexwheels’ (alloy-wheel look alike), manual AC, and 7-inch MediaNav central touchscreen. When it comes to safety, the Spring EV is equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, and Automatic Emergency Braking.
Powering the Spring EV is a single, permanent magnet electric motor at the front, developing 33 kW (45 metric hp) and 125 Nm (92 lb-ft) of torque. The 27.4 kWh battery pack is claimed to offer a combined WLTP range of up to 230 km (143 mi). DC fast-charging is claimed to recharge the battery pack to 80% SoC in 56 minutes.
