Citroën has revealed all the details of its first product offering in India, the C5 Aircross SUV. The company’s marketing strategy focuses on the SUV’s “flying carpet ride” quality. Here are all the details you need to know.
The C5 Aircross went on sale first in China in fall 2017, and later in Europe in 2018. The design hasn’t changed ever since and it looks fairly contemporary with its dual lamp set-up at the front. For India, there’ll be only two trims at launch — Feel and Shine, and it’s the latter we’re seeing in the photos here. Since there are only two trims, Citroën has loaded the C5 Aircross with as many features as possible.
On the exterior, the SUV gets halogen projector headlights, 3D LED taillights, 18-inch Diamond-cut alloy wheels, ORVM-integrated LED turn signals, and front & rear fog lights. The Shine trim gets a few extras such as LED projector headlights, a panoramic sunroof, and hands-free electric tailgate.
For those interested to know the dimensions, the C5 Aircross measures 4,500 mm long, 2,099 mm wide (with mirrors) and 1,710 mm tall. Its wheelbase measures 2,730 mm. With rear seats folded, the C5 Aircross claims a boot space of up to 1,630-litres.
The cabin is loaded with features including Comfort Seats, 3 independent rear seats with adjustable recline angle, 8-inch capacitive touchscreen, Apple Carplay & Android Auto connectivity, 6 speakers, 12.3-inch driver display, dual-zone climate control, cruise control with memory, and Grip Control (Standard, Snow, All Terrain, Sand And Traction Control Off). The best of all is, of course, the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions hydraulic suspension system, which is standard on both trims.
As for safety and driver assistance, the C5 Aircross comes with front, front seat side and curtain airbags; ESC, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Traction Control, Blind Spot Information System, Coffee Break Alert, all four disc brakes, and front & rear parking sensors as standard on both trims.
In the international markets, the C5 Aircross offers various powertrain options including a PHEV. For the Indian market, however, the SUV at launch will be available only with a DW10FC 2.0L (1,997 cc) 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that develops 130 kW (177 metric hp) at 3,750 rpm and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque at 2,000 rpm. An 8-speed automatic gearbox drives the front wheels. No AWD on offer, not at launch.
