Before taking the camouflage off the GR Super Sport hybrid hypercar, Toyota has revealed its Le Mans version, the GR010 Hybrid, all set for the battle in the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Despite having a carbon fibre body, the new car weighs 162 kg (357 lbs) heavier than its predecessor (TS050) at 1,040 kg (2,293 lbs), thanks to larger dimensions and a bigger engine. The car is 250 mm longer, 100 mm wider and 100 mm higher.
As for the powertrain, now there’s a 500 kW (680 metric hp) 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine combined with a 200 kW (272 metric hp) electric motor on the front axle. The total output is capped at 500 kW, meaning the GR010’s electronics control the ICE output depending on the boost from the e-motor.
